How the price is set
The technician inspects the door, explains what is broken and what is worn, and writes the price down. Nothing is added afterwards.
The diagnostic visit is $45 and only applies if you decide not to go ahead.

Good to know
What Moves a Price Up
- A large, heavy or insulated door that needs bigger springs.
- Two problems at once — a spring that broke and threw a cable, a car that bent the track and a section.
- Rusted or seized hardware on older doors.
- Parts that must be ordered.
- A Sunday visit.
When You Compare Quotes
Ask whether the price covers both springs, balancing the door, lubrication, and a test of the safety reverse. Ask whether the diagnostic fee is credited. A low phone quote that grows at the door is the most common complaint we hear about this trade.
Pricing Questions
Answers as of October 2026. Still unsure? Call (516) 442-8171 and describe what the door is doing.
Why are these called starting prices?
Because doors differ. A 16-foot insulated door needs larger springs than a 9-foot steel door, and a rusted bracket on an old door takes more time. The starting price is where a typical job begins; the exact number is written down at your door before work.
Is there a charge if I decide not to do the repair?
Only the $45 diagnostic visit. It is waived whenever you go ahead with the repair.
Do you charge more on Sundays?
Yes, Sunday visits add $69. We are closed Saturday, and there is no surcharge Monday through Friday or on Sunday–Thursday evenings within our hours.
How do I keep repair costs down?
Replace both springs together on a two-spring door, fix worn rollers and seals while we are already there, have a tune-up every year or two, and do not run the opener against a heavy or stuck door.
